GeoIdentity designed and developed bi-directional integrations of an external excavator-operator information exchange system (VA811) with the client’s internal Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to achieve synchronized management of locator requests. The integration automated a hitherto manual workflow, by extracting locator requests from emails sent by the VA811 system to a client email account, running validation logic on locator requests and finally creating or updating work orders in the CMMS. Locator requests created within the CMMS were able to be reported back to VA811 via a telnet API for compliance with state law. The integration resulted in significant time savings and quality of service improvements for the utility client.
